According to Sam Nartey George, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Ghana’s CID is preparing to pursue an international arrest warrant via INTERPOL against a Russian citizen accused of sharing non-consensual explicit videos involving Ghanaian women.
Mr. George confirmed the development in a Facebook post following a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Ghana on Wednesday, February 18. He stated that the victims in the viral videos have lodged formal complaints, prompting active investigations by the CID.
According to the Minister, authorities have moved beyond speculation regarding the suspect’s identity. “The individual’s identity and nationality have been conclusively established,” Mr. George said, adding that verification through the suspect’s passport confirmed he is Russian, dismissing earlier online claims suggesting a different nationality.
Describing the alleged conduct as deeply troubling, Mr. George said: “This act is atrocious. It violates our laws, breaches the privacy of the victims, and shows complete disregard for their dignity.”
He assured that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses and as steps are taken to secure international cooperation in the case.
