German-born, Ghanaian-descended Ilyas Ansah has stated that he does not intend to play for the Ghana Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 21-year-old had been reportedly monitored by the Ghana Football Association as a potential addition to the squad for the upcoming global tournament.

Having represented Germany at youth level, Ansah says he has yet to make a decision regarding which nation he will commit to at the senior international level.

“After the U21 European Championship, I will assess my options for next year and make a decision,” Ansah told Tribuna.com.

“At the moment, I won’t be joining Ghana for the World Cup.”

Ilyas currently plays in Germany for Union Berlin, where he has netted five goals and provided two assists in 26 appearances this season.
