Zambia striker Norin Betani passes away ahead of Ghana match

Betani was initially included in the Zambia squad for the match against Ghana but fell ill before the team departed for Accra.

The 24-year-old striker was suspected to have contracted malaria, which ultimately led to her death on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

She was admitted to Kanyama Level One Hospital near the team camp and later referred to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for further treatment.

Despite the efforts of the medical staff and her family, Betani unfortunately did not survive.

The late footballer was one of the players named in Zambia’s provisional squad for the Ghana match, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, February 23 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
