Police have arrested two suspects, including an alleged gang leader, in connection with a robbery attack on the Berekum Chelsea team bus that claimed the life of a player.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night (April 15), the police said one of the suspects was injured during a shootout with officers and is currently receiving medical treatment.
“The Police have arrested the gang leader and one other suspect in connection with the robbery incident that led to the death of the Berekum Chelsea footballer,” the statement said.

It added that the injured suspect sustained gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire with police intelligence teams and has since been taken to a hospital for treatment, with further updates expected in due course.
The team was returning from a Ghana Premier League match against Samartex 1996 at Samreboi when six armed men blocked their bus and opened fire, forcing the driver off the road as players and officials scrambled to safety.
The VIP bus, carrying about 30 players and officials, came under attack at around 10:30 p.m.
Amid the chaos, the driver veered off the road into nearby bushes while players and staff fled for their lives.
