Antoine Semenyo, an attacker for Manchester City, has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for February after an outstanding first full month with the club following his January move from AFC Bournemouth.
The award marks the first time Semenyo has received the honour. During February, he scored three goals and provided one assist in five Premier League appearances, finding the net against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham F.C., and Leeds United.
Reacting to the achievement on Manchester City’s website, Semenyo said:
“This is a brilliant moment for me. Winning the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget.”
“My focus now is to keep improving and help City achieve the best possible results. There is still so much to play for, and I’m really excited about the final stage of the season,” Semenyo said.
The Ghana international has made an instant impact at Manchester City, impressing in several positions, including on both wings, as a forward, and in midfield.
Semenyo is the first City player apart from Erling Haaland to win the Premier League Player of the Month since Raheem Sterling claimed it in December 2021. Haaland has won the award four times, most recently in September this season.
The forward also becomes only the third Ghanaian to receive the honour, following Tony Yeboah, who won it twice with Leeds United in March and September 1995, and Andre Ayew, who earned the award in August 2015 while playing for Swansea City A.F.C..
