Works to install and secure signage at Accra International Airport have been successfully completed, following delays encountered the previous day.
Airport authorities stated that the project was concluded in the early hours of Saturday, March 21, 2026, with maintenance activities conducted overnight to ensure minimal disruption to passengers and airport operations.
Officials stated that the repainting and installation works were carried out overnight after the final flight, citing the height of the structures and their effect on the car park area, to reduce inconvenience to the public and passengers.
The improved signage is expected to ease navigation within Terminal 3 and boost Ghana’s standing as a key aviation hub in the sub-region.
The Ghana Airports Company Limited further thanked the public for their feedback, stressing that contributions from passengers and stakeholders are crucial to ongoing enhancements at the airport.
The development follows the government’s decision to revert the airport to its original name, Accra International Airport, after years of operating as Kotoka International Airport.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 23, the Ministry of Transport explained that the facility was originally known as Accra International Airport prior to its renaming.
The Ministry added that restoring the original name reflects the airport’s wider international recognition and assured the public that the change will not affect operations, safety standards, or international travel arrangements.
It further noted that the airport’s code under the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) remains unchanged at “ACC.”
