Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale boost Black Stars World Cup fund with cash pledges

Dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have both made contributions toward fundraising efforts for the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 World Cup campaign.

The two musicians attended the launch event held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City on Friday night, where individuals and corporate organisations pledged substantial support to aid Ghana’s preparations for the tournament.

Shatta Wale pledged $100,000, following an earlier contribution of $101,000 from Stonebwoy, made up of $81,000 in cash and $20,000 worth of music services. Their donations add to the increasing pool of support as the nation unites behind the team.

The headline sponsorship was provided by Ibrahim Mahama’s mining company, Engineers & Planners, which pledged $5 million.

Gold Fields also contributed $2 million, with a further $1 million commitment for next year.

Ghana national football team have been placed in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. They will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto.
