
The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seven officers of the Ghana Police Service in recognition of their role in a recent anti-robbery operation in Tema.
The officers, from the Tema Regional Police Command, were elevated to higher ranks following their response to a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor at Tema Community 5. The operation led to the shooting of two suspected robbers and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and other exhibits.

Those promoted are Chief Inspector Enoch Nartey Nuer, Inspector Gershon Dekpey, Inspector Prince Asante, Sergeant Lukman Mohammed, Sergeant Eugene Kuudouru, Corporal Jerome Akator, and Lance Corporal Jonathan Sewurah.
The promotions, which took effect on April 14, 2026, were conferred by the IGP in the presence of the Police Management Board. He commended the officers for their bravery, discipline, and dedication to duty.
Mr Yohuno urged them to view their promotions as a call to maintain higher standards of professionalism in their work. He also encouraged other personnel within the service to remain committed to safeguarding lives and property, assuring that outstanding performance would continue to be rewarded.

The recognition comes amid intensified police operations in Tema, following growing concerns over armed robbery cases, particularly those targeting mobile money vendors.
The Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing security through proactive policing and swift response measures, while assuring the public of its continued efforts to combat crime.
