
Black Stars’ World Cup Qualification Celebrated as Sports Minister Calls on Ga Mantse for Blessings and Unity Ahead of Major Championships
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty the Ga Mantse, as part of efforts to strengthen the relationship between traditional leadership and national institutions in Ghana’s drive toward sporting excellence and cultural promotion.
The visit underscored the growing collaboration between traditional authorities and state institutions in advancing Ghana’s aspirations on both continental and global sporting stages. It also served as an opportunity for the Minister to seek the blessings and support of the Ga Mantse ahead of a series of upcoming national and international sporting events.

During the engagement, Hon. Adams officially announced Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the Black Stars’ fifth appearance at the global tournament. He described the achievement as a reflection of the nation’s rising stature in world football and its continued commitment to developing sporting talent.
The Minister further highlighted upcoming major sporting events set to be hosted in Accra, including the Senior Athletics Championship and the African Arm-Wrestling Championships. He noted that these competitions would not only showcase Ghana’s sporting capabilities but also promote national unity and international recognition.
Hon. Adams also praised the Ga Mantse for his leadership, tolerance, and commitment to creating an enabling environment for governance and youth development. He stressed that such traditional leadership remains crucial in shaping the country’s future and empowering young people.

In his response, His Royal Majesty the Ga Mantse emphasized the unifying power of sports, describing it as a vital tool for national cohesion, cultural identity, and development. He urged the Minister to continue projecting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage, particularly during international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, to inspire national pride and create economic opportunities.
The Ga Mantse also called for unity, discipline, and focus within the Black Stars camp, reminding players and officials that representing Ghana is a privilege and a symbol of national pride.
He commended Hon. Kofi Adams for his leadership and encouraged him to remain steadfast in delivering on his mandate for the progress of Ghanaian sports. The traditional ruler concluded with prayers for divine protection and success for all national teams, especially the Black Stars, as they prepare for future competitions.
