NACOC Seizes 40-Foot Trailer Carrying 5 Million Tapentadol Tablets in Major Anti-Drug Operation

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intercepted a 40-foot trailer transporting approximately 5 million tablets of Tapentadol 250mg in a major intelligence-led anti-drug operation.

The consignment, which was en route to the Niger Republic, was seized following a carefully coordinated operation based on intelligence gathered by authorities. The interception is being described as one of the significant pharmaceutical drug busts in recent times.

Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the shipment and are currently in custody assisting with ongoing investigations. The suspects are believed to be part of a wider trafficking network involved in the cross-border movement of controlled substances.

Tapentadol, a potent opioid analgesic, is strictly regulated due to its high potential for abuse, addiction, and dependency.

NACOC says it remains committed to intensifying surveillance and enforcement operations to curb drug trafficking activities. The Commission is also working with international partners to trace the origin of the shipment and identify the broader network behind the illicit consignment as investigations continue.
