Antoine Semenyo played the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final as Manchester City secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal.
A second-half brace from midfielder-turned-left-back Nico O’Reilly sealed the win, handing both City and Semenyo their first trophy of the season.
Operating mainly on the right flank, Semenyo came close to getting on the scoresheet in the second half, but his left-footed curler narrowly missed the target.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Semenyo expressed his delight, saying: “First trophy of many I hope! God’s got a plan.
“It might not work out, you might not know why, but the answer always reveals itself.”
The Carabao Cup triumph marks Semenyo’s first piece of silverware since joining City in January from AFC Bournemouth.
Antoine Semenyo has become the first Ghanaian to win the Carabao Cup since Michael Essien lifted the trophy with Chelsea in 2007.
Semenyo is now set to join the Ghana national football team camp in Vienna ahead of international friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team later this week.
