8,000 New Health Workers to Start Work by July — Akandoh

Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has announced that the 8,000 newly recruited health workers are expected to begin work by July, as placement processes move toward completion.

He explained that government is working to ensure a smooth onboarding process into the health sector, adding that he is optimistic the remaining administrative procedures will be finalized within the month.

“I don’t want to give a specific date, but at the latest, I think by July we should be done with it,” he stated. “We are looking at them starting work in July.”

To support the process, the Minister revealed that the Ministry will soon publish the names of all recruited personnel, along with details of where they are expected to attend their interviews. According to him, this will help provide clarity to applicants and address concerns surrounding postings and interview arrangements.

“We are going to publish all the names and where they’ll be going for their interviews,” he added, noting that successful candidates will be absorbed into the system after completing the required procedures.

He further indicated that priority will be given to rural communities in the deployment process, as part of efforts to address staffing shortages in underserved areas.

The planned deployment, he said, forms part of efforts to strengthen healthcare
