Accra Hearts of Oak set for Accra Sports Stadium return after Ghana Football Association confirms venue change

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that Accra Hearts of Oak will play their remaining home matches of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season at the Accra Sports Stadium following the temporary closure of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The decision follows the commencement of renovation works at the Legon-based facility, forcing the Phobians to relocate at a crucial stage of the campaign.

Hearts of Oak started the season at the Accra Sports Stadium before moving to the University of Ghana venue, where they played seven matches after initially hosting five games at their original home ground.

With redevelopment works now underway, the club is set to return to the capital’s iconic stadium as they aim for a strong finish to the season.

Currently fourth on the league table, the Phobians remain firmly in the title race, sitting six points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars with eight matches left to play. The venue switch could prove pivotal as they seek to maximise home advantage during the final stretch of the campaign.

Under head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, Hearts will play five of their remaining fixtures in Accra, alongside three away matches to wrap up the season.

The return to familiar surroundings sets the stage for a decisive run-in, with the Phobians hoping to capitalise on home support as they chase league glory.
