The University of Energy and Natural Resources has confirmed the death of one of its students, Mr. Godfred Akomaning.

The University of Energy and Natural Resources has confirmed the death of one of its students, Mr. Godfred Akomaning.

In a statement signed by Deputy Registrar and Head of the University Relations Office, Alfred Ohenenana Appiah, on Tuesday, March 24, management disclosed that the Level 400 BSc Petroleum Engineering student passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, while receiving treatment at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital.

According to a medical report, the cause of death was Organophosphate poisoning.

The university indicated that the deceased’s parents have been duly informed, and his body has been deposited at the Sefwi Anwiaso Community Hospital Mortuary.

Management expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and the university community, describing the incident as tragic.

It further noted that investigations have been initiated to establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, with additional updates expected to be communicated in due course.

The statement further reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to the safety and well-being of students and staff.
