Suspect Arrested for Threatening Police and Military Personnel in Viral Video

A suspect has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly issuing threats against security personnel in a viral video circulating online.

The arrest was carried out by the IGP’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) in collaboration with officers at Jacobu. The suspect, identified as Opoku Emmanuel, is accused of inciting violence and threatening both police and military personnel.

According to police, the suspect appeared in the video wearing a mask and warned officers against attempting to arrest armed robbers. He further threatened to kill any officer who confronted him.

Opoku Emmanuel was arrested on May 7, 2026, at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region. He is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.

Police say investigations are ongoing.
