Accra Hearts of Oak Pursue Amicable Settlement in $150,000 Dispute with René Hiddink

Accra Hearts of Oak has confirmed that it has formally submitted a settlement proposal to its former Technical Director, René Hiddink, in a bid to resolve their ongoing contractual dispute amicably.

In a statement released on May 11, the club disclosed that the proposal was submitted through its legal representatives following recent court-related engagements and discussions between both parties.

“Hearts of Oak remains fully committed to resolving the matter involving former Technical Director René Hiddink in an amicable, professional, and mutually respectful manner,” the statement said.

The dispute stems from a ruling by FIFA after Hiddink sued the club over the termination of his contract. FIFA reportedly ordered Hearts of Oak to pay compensation estimated at around $150,000 in his favour.

Hiddink, who joined Hearts of Oak in 2023 as Technical Director, left the club less than a year later under controversial circumstances. The unresolved case has also led to sanctions against the club, including a transfer ban imposed by FIFA.

According to the statement, the settlement proposal reflects the club’s intention to reach a “fair and responsible conclusion in the best interest of all parties involved.”

The club also addressed reports and alleged leaked communications involving Hiddink, describing them as unfortunate, but stressed that it would not engage in public exchanges that could undermine ongoing settlement efforts.

Accra Hearts of Oak maintained that it has acted transparently and in good faith throughout the process, while safeguarding both its long-term interests and the rights of the former technical director.

The club is now awaiting an official response from Hiddink and his representatives, while urging supporters and stakeholders to remain calm and patient as discussions continue.

The Board and Management expressed confidence that the matter will be resolved swiftly and amicably.
