Sachet Water to Retail at GH¢15 Per Bag from April 6

The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced a hike in the price of sachet water, attributing the decision to escalating production costs driven by global supply constraints.

The revised pricing, which takes effect on Monday, April 6, comes in response to what the association describes as a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials—particularly polymers—amid disruptions in the international market.

In a statement issued on April 2, NASPAWAP noted that the ongoing conflict in Iran has worsened the shortage of essential inputs, making it increasingly unsustainable for producers to maintain current price levels.

Under the new pricing structure, the ex-factory cost for a bag of 30 sachets (500ml each) has been fixed at GH¢8, while the ex-truck price stands at GH¢10. The maximum retail price has also been set at GH¢15 per bag.

The association has urged distributors, retailers, and consumers to adhere to the revised pricing guidelines, emphasizing that the adjustment is necessary to sustain production and guarantee the continuous supply of safe drinking water.
