Massive Demolition Exercise Hits Tema–Afienya Corridor | Structures Cleared in Road Expansion Drive

A large-scale demolition exercise has been carried out along the Tema–Afienya stretch of road, where structures within the road corridor were cleared using heavy-duty bulldozers and excavators as part of ongoing infrastructure development and enforcement of road reserve regulations.

A major demolition exercise was carried out in the early hours of Friday, April 24, 2026, along the Tema–Afienya stretch of road.

The operation, which reportedly began around 4:00 a.m., saw bulldozers and excavators clear roadside shops, kiosks, and other structures believed to be on the road reserve. Within hours, the busy stretch was reduced to rubble.

The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and pave the way for expansion works along the corridor. While some residents welcome the move, others have been left counting their losses after the sudden demolition.
