
ECG Announces Widespread Planned Maintenance Across Tema, Accra East, Ashanti and Western Regions
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced an extensive network of planned maintenance exercises scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, across parts of the Tema, Accra East, Ashanti, and Western Regions.
The utility company says the coordinated interventions are aimed at improving service reliability, strengthening the national grid, and enhancing overall power distribution stability. The announcement comes at a time when engineers are also addressing multiple network faults that caused widespread outages on Monday.
According to ECG, the planned outages will occur at different times depending on the location and scope of work in each area.
Tema Region maintenance (9:00 am – 3:00 pm)
In the Tema Region, maintenance works will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, affecting communities including Emef Estate, Harbour View Estates, High Tension, Celebrity Golf Club, Jotafa, Jubail Hospital, Sakumono Village and Estates, Sydal Farms, Adjei Kodjo, Japan City, Global, Teteman, Odumase, Christian International School, Ahwiam, Akplabanya, Magotsonya, Songo Salt, Mataheko, Goi, Kportitse Kope, and surrounding areas.
Accra East Region maintenance (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
In the Accra East Region, a separate exercise will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting areas such as La Trust, Tseaddo Roundabout, Coconut Junction, Adenta Container, Adenta Housing Down, New England, Sephoda, Adenta Lotto Kiosk, and nearby communities.
Ashanti Region maintenance operations
The Ashanti Region will experience multiple maintenance activities. The first runs from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Mamponteng, Aboaso, Ntonso, Dumanafo, Ankaase, Asonomaso Nkwanta, Safo, Kona, and surrounding areas.
A second operation, scheduled from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, will impact several communities including Edwenase, Kwadaso, Nwamase, Apire, Ampatia, Bebu, Dako, Adumasa, Ampabame No.1 and 2, Mpatasie, Trede, Sabin Akrofrom, Takyiman, Denkyembouso, Ohwumasi, Hill Top, Asouyeboa, Tanoso, Yabi, Merewadwa, Kokode, Aburaso, Kromoase, Akyeremade, Chichibon, Gyekye, Dida, Odeneho Kwadaso, OWASS, Agric Amanfrom, Santasi, Fankyenebra, Apemanim, Boko, Twedie, Foase, Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom, Nweneso, Manso Adubia, and surrounding areas.
ECG has also scheduled two emergency maintenance operations in the Ashanti Region. The first will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Lowcost, Pepedan, Yeguaa, Broadway, BD, and nearby areas. The second, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, will affect Ahenkro, Kodie, Aduamoah, Aduman, Mowire, Akom, Apagya, and surrounding communities.
Western Region emergency maintenance
In the Western Region, emergency works are scheduled from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, affecting Mile 1, Mankesim, Mile 10/2, Badukrom, and surrounding areas.
Monday faults leave communities in darkness
The planned maintenance comes in addition to ongoing repairs following multiple network faults recorded on Monday, May 11, 2026.
In the Ashanti South Region, faults affected Marfokrom and Chirapatre and surrounding areas, while engineers were deployed to restore power.
In Accra East, an underground cable fault disrupted supply to Nima IPMC, Nima Police Station, Nima Market, Nima Alaska, Kokomlemle, Nima Kizito, Nima Frankies, and Nima German Base.
In Accra West, a technical fault affected Ablekuma Curve, Borkorborkor, Manhean, and surrounding communities.
In the Western Region, a transformer fault left Windy Ridge, Nigeria Flats, and nearby areas without electricity.
ECG has apologized to affected customers for the inconvenience caused by both the unplanned outages and the scheduled maintenance exercises. The company assured the public that engineers are working to restore normal supply while stressing that the planned works are necessary to improve long-term network stability and service delivery.
