Black Stars Star Tariq Lamptey Exits Club Following Immediate Contract Termination

Fiorentina Terminate Tariq Lamptey’s Contract After Injury Setback

Italian Serie A side ACF Fiorentina have reportedly terminated the contract of Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey following a difficult spell at the club.

Lamptey joined Fiorentina at the start of the 2025–2026 season after opting against a move to AFC Ajax, choosing instead to complete his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion before making the switch to Italy. Prior to his time at Brighton, the defender developed through the academy system at Chelsea FC.

However, his time in Florence was short-lived. Lamptey made just two appearances for Fiorentina, accumulating only 25 minutes of playing time, before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

According to reports from Italian football insiders, the Serie A club has now ended his contract “with immediate effect,” with the injury cited as the primary reason behind the decision.

The latest setback adds to Lamptey’s ongoing struggles with injuries, which have disrupted his progress in recent seasons.

The injury setback has effectively ended Tariq Lamptey’s chances of being selected for Ghana’s Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
