Baba Rahman, Mumin & Nuamah Back as Black Stars Name Provisional Squad

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced a 28-man squad for a World Cup training camp and an international friendly against Wales in Cardiff. The squad features five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards.

The team began camp on Monday, May 25, 2026, holding training sessions at Dragon Park in Cardiff ahead of their clash with Wales on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Greece-based defender Baba Abdul Rahman earns a return to the squad for the first time since September 2023 after impressive performances for PAOK. The former Chelsea left-back has made 35 appearances this season, contributing three goals and three assists in all competitions.

Olympique Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah also returns after nearly a year out, having fully recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him sidelined for over 12 months.

Other players making their comeback include Rayo Vallecano defender Abdul Mumin, Saint-Étienne midfielder Augustine Boakye, and Stade Rennes defender Alidu Seidu, all returning from long injury layoffs.

Ajax youngster Paul Reverson has also been named in the squad. The 20-year-old has been included for further evaluation, following impressive performances with Ajax’s youth team in the Netherlands.

The squad will gather in Cardiff as they prepare for the friendly against Wales and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Ghana will open their Group L campaign against Panama in Toronto before facing England and Croatia in Boston and Philadelphia, respectively.
