Students Allegedly Attack Obuasi SecTech Headteacher Over Fetus Burial Claims

The Headteacher of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Abdulai Zakaria, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of students over claims involving the alleged burial of a fetus.

Reports indicate that tensions escalated on the school campus after some students claimed the headteacher had been seen burying what they believed to be a fetus in a nearby bush. The students further alleged that the incident was linked to an alleged abortion involving a student.

According to sources, the allegations triggered anger among sections of the student body. In the early hours of Wednesday, some students reportedly confronted the headteacher, leading to an altercation during which he was allegedly attacked and sustained injuries. The disturbance also resulted in damage to some school property.

The injured headteacher was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he is receiving treatment. His current condition has not been officially disclosed.

In response to the incident, police officers were deployed to the school to restore order and ensure the safety of students and staff. As part of ongoing investigations, officers reportedly exhumed a body believed to be that of a baby from a location identified by the students.

The unrest has disrupted academic activities, with teaching and learning temporarily suspended while investigators continue their work. Security has been heightened on campus as authorities assess the situation.

The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the alleged discovery or the claims made against the headteacher. Investigations are ongoing, and the allegations remain unverified.
