Manhyia South MP introduces ‘Soloku’ Festival to celebrate Asanteman heritage

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has launched a maiden festival designed to enhance social cohesion, celebrate cultural heritage and stimulate local economic growth within the constituency.

Scheduled for Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, the “Soloku” Festival is set to unite people from all walks of life within the constituency and beyond to celebrate the community’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant talents.

The event will showcase a lively blend of street jam sessions, cultural displays, and community-based competitions. Activities will include a Soloku Dance Competition, Cooking Competition, Tug of Peace, Table Tennis, and Card Games, all aimed at actively engaging youth groups across the constituency.

The festival, which has already generated strong excitement following its launch, will be held at Abby’s Park, with organisers anticipating a crowd of more than 10,000 attendees.

At the heart of the festival is a simple yet powerful message: “One People! One Vibe.”

Speaking at the launch, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Baffour Awuah, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond celebration to focus on economic transformation within the constituency.

“The Soloku Festival is not just about music and celebration. It is about unity. It is about creating opportunities for our young people, supporting local businesses, and strengthening the bonds that hold our communities together,” he said.

He noted that the festival is strategically designed to boost economic activity in the area, drawing parallels with some of Ghana’s most impactful seasonal events. According to him, the vision is to create a platform that delivers tangible development for Manhyia South.

“We are building something that will bring real development to Manhyia South,” he added.

Just as the Kwahu Easter Festival has transformed local businesses and tourism, the Soloku Festival will revive economic activity, support traders and create new opportunities for our people,” he added.
