Bedzrah Commends GCMC’s Efforts to Revive Operations and Boost Productivity

The Chairman of Parliament’s Energy Committee, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, has commended the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company (GCMC) for steps taken to revitalise its operations and improve overall performance.

Speaking during a working visit to the company, Hon. Bedzrah acknowledged ongoing efforts to retool the facility and restore it to full productivity after years of operational challenges. He noted that the progress made so far reflects a renewed commitment to strengthening local manufacturing capacity within the energy sector.

The Energy Committee Chairman emphasised the strategic importance of GCMC in Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry, particularly in the production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. He stated that a fully functional and efficient GCMC would not only support the government’s clean cooking agenda but also enhance safety standards in the distribution and use of LPG nationwide.

Hon. Bedzrah further encouraged management and staff of the company to sustain the momentum and ensure that the retooling process translates into tangible results, including increased output and improved product quality.

He also reiterated Parliament’s support for initiatives aimed at repositioning state-owned enterprises to operate efficiently and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Management of GCMC, on their part, expressed appreciation for the visit and the continued support from the Energy Committee, assuring that efforts are underway to fully restore the company’s operational capacity and competitiveness in the sector.

The visit forms part of broader oversight responsibilities by the Energy Committee to monitor the performance of key institutions within Ghana’s energy industry and ensure they are aligned with national development priorities.
