Carlos Queiroz Lands in Accra to Begin Official Black Stars Duties

Carlos Queiroz has officially arrived in Ghana to assume leadership of the senior national team at a critical juncture, as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced tactician touched down in Accra on Wednesday, April 22, marking the beginning of a short yet significant assignment aimed at restructuring the Black Stars ahead of the global tournament in June.

An official unveiling is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, at the Alisa Hotel, where the former Real Madrid assistant coach is expected to outline his vision, set immediate priorities, and engage the media for the first time since his appointment.

The Ghana Football Association has offered Queiroz a four-month contract, underscoring a strong emphasis on immediate impact as expectations mount for an impressive World Cup campaign.

Carlos Queiroz will be supported by his long-time collaborator, Roger De Sa, alongside a team of additional technical staff, forming a backroom unit with extensive international experience.

He succeeds Otto Addo, whose tenure came to an end following a string of disappointing results in recent international friendlies.

With Ghana placed in a highly competitive Group L, the mandate is clear: to restore confidence, improve performance levels, and position the Black Stars to compete strongly on football’s biggest stage.
