Caleb Yirenkyi Named FC Nordsjælland Player of the Year After Breakout Season

Caleb Yirenkyi has become the latest Ghanaian to win FC Nordsjælland’s Player of the Year award following an outstanding 2025–2026 season.

The versatile 20-year-old earned the prestigious honour after developing into a key figure for both club and country over the course of the campaign. His consistent performances across multiple positions set him apart as one of the team’s most reliable players.

Yirenkyi featured as a right-back, central midfielder, and centre-back during the season, showcasing his adaptability and tactical awareness. His contributions proved vital, as he finished the league campaign with two goals and six assists in 29 appearances.

He was also part of the Nordsjælland side that secured a 2-1 victory over Viborg FF in their latest outing, further underlining his importance to the team.

By clinching the Player of the Year award, Yirenkyi joins a growing list of Black Stars players who have received top individual honours at their respective clubs, highlighting his rising profile in European football.

Winger Ernest Nuamah won the award following the 2022-2023 league season prior to his move to French side Olympique Lyon.

Since making his debut for Ghana, Caleb Yirenkyi has developed into a key figure for the Black Stars and is widely expected to be part of the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
