Mahama Visits Akosombo Dam After Fire Incident at GRIDCo Substation, Inspects Restoration Works

President John Dramani Mahama has visited the Akosombo Dam to assess damage following a fire outbreak at a Ghana Grid Company substation, which resulted in the loss of over 1,000 megawatts from the national power grid.

During the visit, the President inspected ongoing restoration works and received updates on efforts to stabilise the system after the incident. The affected facility is operated by the Ghana Grid Company Limited.

President Mahama commended engineers and technical teams for their swift and professional response in managing the situation and working to restore power supply.

Government, he noted, remains committed to ensuring the rapid restoration of stable electricity across the country while strengthening the resilience and reliability of Ghana’s energy infrastructure to prevent future disruptions.
